7,5h Nürburgring
The racing we got was very fun, shame that nature denied the vast majority of the race.
They are just too stupid to put the race 4 weeks later. EVERYONE here knows that the weather end of May, beginning of June is unpredictable and there is a very high chance for such weather.
It's just stupidity and ignorance to keep the race at that date.

Nature? It was race control who decided to call the race - absolute SHAME on the marshalls who refused to fly green flag because they allegedly "could not see the cars", then change positions to gain more visibility. Absolute SHAME the entire thing. It started so well.
It was crazy, wet, dry and everything in between, the manthey porsche drivers had steel balls doing it on slicks.
it's a shame that they did not complete the full 24hr cycle. Doing 5 laps and end it like that is simply premature.

geht mir genauso, könnte echt einfach heulen, nächstes Jahr habe ich einfach schon mein abitur geschrieben wenn das rennen läuft. unfassbar, kann mich auch nicht damit trösten dann diesen Monat noch 24h le mans und 24h spa kommen, beides absolut nicht vergleichbar mit dem Nürburgring

The first 7 hours were really good, not the ending we all want to see but nothing anyone can do about it. Thank you to everyone who was involved in this event as always.

exactly what i think too. disappointment is okay and i think everyone is disappointed. but no one can do anything about it. that was the only right decision, anything else would have been reckless. Let's hope we can enjoy it in full again next year.

Absolutely true, the coverage made every second of the race and honestly even a big part of the 'waiting game' sunday afternoon enjoyable and entertaining. And all that for free! Hats off.

Ich kann den Sicherheitsgedanken verstehen, aber irgendwann ist alles weichgespült.
Still extremely heartbroken and downcast rn, but ultimately nothing can be done about this weather. I just wish that next year’s would make up a lot for this and be a very great 24hr Nürburgring. Thank you for all the hard work of organizing this event.

@@garrygal1 Obviously you didn't watch the race on the grandstand. It was obvious that a restart was not possible inside of the 5 savetycar laps.

What an ending. I had never experienced something like this situation except in 2021 but I hope Manthey will get top of the podium next year cuz they had a pace to win! 🔥

Manthey clearly had the pace, but i think the fastest car in the race was that BMW "Junior Team #72" who came 3rd in the end. They would have deserved fighting for victory.
On the other hand, i feel happy for Audi for their win. I´ve heard, HQ decided to end the support for their teams this year. If this is true, this maybe was the last victory for an Audi there for a long time.

They did a restart in 2021 even tough the fog was far worse. Just compare the 2024 race ending with the 2021 restart. What a joke.

Der Rennleiter gehört gefeuert!
If a 24-hour race starts at 4 p.m., it must stop at 4 p.m. at the earliest. So teams drove into the pits behind the Savtycar on the assumption that the race would continue until 4 p.m. and were penalized by the 3 p.m. finish.
If the results are changed because of this it is just ridiculous.
First thing: ANY race could be canceled because of the weather. Any. Doesn´t matter if it´s a sprint or a 24h endurance race.
And secondly: race control announced they would approve 5 laps behind the safety car and THEN decide, depending on how the weather would evolve, if they would give an "all clear",
or end the race premature. This was made very clear to all teams.
So, those teams who went into the garage for fuel and new tires before the final decision was announced, gambled on that. And they gambled away.
Kind of funny how Audi leave GT3 in a works capacity and still get the success. Makes you wonder why they left at all.
their win today wasn't earned anyways, it's such a shame the Sheldon got unlucky. Driver who hit him got fined and lost permit

@@justincase9471u stupid? She literally stopped her overtake to let the GT3 pass and a racing incident happened, which is pretty normal if you take the compression down there flat with 2 wide. So either blame the one who overtakes in a compression (which is stupid) or take it as a racing incident, which it was.
What a shame this year.. so disappointing. Hope for better next year
i get it that with the fog the safety wasn't given. but there needs to be a rule for the race to extend after 4pm if let's say 50% of the race distance wasn't done.
this today was a textbook "how to not run a race".
lots and lots of people have driven for many hours to be there and paid expensive tickets for the race and were massively disappointed.
this just can not repeat under any circumstance. ever.
Today it wasn’t possible because at 6PM they have to start to build up the area for the next Event. It’s the „Rock am Ring“-Festival next weekend.
So no chance to extend this.
And also think about all the Marshalls and private teams, wo have to work tomorrow in their normal job.
That’s just the way the 24h at Nordschleife works. 👍🏻
Weather conditions have always been handled like this. There will be a 24h of Nürburgring next year :) Same time even.
Couldn't imagine Jimmy, Misha and Alex feels about this. They literally trained them self for exactly this moment...
Es gibt sogar eine Regel daß das Rennen nach 24 Stunden abgewinkt wird und danach gibt es erst eine Wertung.

They need to move the 24h race to a few weeks later next year, there is no other solution to the weather problem.
next year will be a few weeks later in June than this year it'd be the week after Le Mans, this us the thing the race date moves around just like Easter does, it doesn't stay fixed into one particular weekend
4 Tage gefroren, und dann wo der Nebel verschwindet wird einfach um 15 Uhr abgebrochen. Warum wurde nicht an den kritischen paar Stellen Code 60 gemacht? Das war eine Blamage von der Rennleitung

Whilst I’m happy Audi won in what is possibly their last 24 in SP9 the race was a big disappointment for the fans and teams that work so hard to get on the grid
Yeah, very happy that Audi took the lead in time but it's incredibly disappointing having to wait another year to get what we came for
The win of the #16 is not rock solid yet. Team Rowe is going to court because they think they would have won if the rules were applied differently.

For some reason this race was moved forward. Did they consider potential bad weather by doing this 🤔 ?
With a location so sensitive to weather, the race should always be held on a date where the weather is somewhat predictable/repeatable.
Only bit of weather that you can predict on Nordshleife is that you can't predict anything.
@@MindBlowerWTF I agree with a caveat, in the past, races have been held on days with manageable weather except for 2021 and this year. Surely there are some lessons to be learned and adopted from previous years of success

The race has to change its date. It could be held in July or August, in the middle of summer.

Who of you hardcore mf's did also STILL watch the full 24H? ;-) Or at least had the stream running and was awake the full time? This was the hardest thing ever, for both, the audience to stay on the programme all time and especially for the camera operators who filmed interesting stuff like empty beer bottles, a dog, people packing up tents and sound equipment, single people sleeping somewhere - and of course: campfires burning. It was awesome!
i was there watching the quiet nature of the track with birds chirping and the wind howling through the woods. I saw someone brush their teeth, someone push the car uphill and jamming to the radio station song.

Today I sat 7 hours at the BMW Grandstand/T3 at the Ring, just to see cars driving slow behind a safety car.... What a day🥴🥲
Why did they restart the race with five full laps behind the safety car? Why not wait longer in the pit lane until the conditions were better and then do one formation lap?
Also they should have canceled the race without a winner at the end. Congratulations to Scherer but for me they didn´t win the 24h race, they didn´t even win the 7 hour race, because no one knew that the race ended after 7 hours and had different pit strategies etc. for an 24h endurance race. This 7 hour race win is officially the same like a real 24h race and that feels unfair.
they let everyone at the front pit, audi won fair and square. Conditions weren't going to improve, they did 5 laps for the fans who came to see the cars, starting later for a 2 lap sprint would have been stupid

Scherer were seemingly the only ones who predicted the red flag and went full attack with #16 to take the lead. They didn't make any strategic mistakes and their drivers provided brilliant racing. They certainly won this 7 hour race.
@@jsade We will see if Scherer won this 7 hour race. Maybe BMW has won the 7 hour racce: "Rowe Racing announces appeal against rejected protest at 24h Nürburgring. BMW team: Would have won the race if all rules had been followed."
@@BitNuker89 And what a way to win a race: off track, on a technicality. The BMW car was never anywhere near the lead, and giving them the win will add to the disaster this race has been.

how are they supposed to know what the weather's going to be like when they announce the race date? they haven't got some magical crystal ball that they can just look into and see what the forecast is going to be

Das Event ist definitv mehr als nur saufen und auch mehr als nur das Hauptrennen. Von Quali über dürft Show bis zu Classics. Bei all dem racing ist das 24er nur der Bonus zum Abschluss bzw das Highlight. Spass vor Ort hätte man während dem Rennen aber auch ohne zu saufen

Disappointing end, but we can't do anything about the weather. If it was changed to green for the sake of a race and someone got injured, or worse, that would have been an unforgivable disaster, so in the end, the right decision was made. Thank you for the race, it was full of action when running, and I can't wait for next year!

Please just don't do the race on the weekend of corpus christi. Just do it in Agust.

When the organization realizes taking a later date in the year could give a 24h racing but that would cost more to them... So cutting it short by nature, makes their profits higher..
What until you realize that many drivers, team staff, marshalls actually have real jobs so having the race on a public holiday makes it a lot easier for everyone including fans. It's also not that easy. The DTM race in 2022 was in August, that got delayed by, you guessed it, fog.
First. Other Events at the Ring. There is No Other possible Date. Second all These drivers has Other events

So no 24 hrs of Nürburgring this year. Sad, because it's the only race good as Le Mans. Hope to see it next year.
24hrs of Spa is also fantastic, brutal, challenging, and can rain anytime there too.
@@fioralbannach6647 right, it's quite as brutal as Nürburgring and Le Mans. But weather can be unfair, destroying the values and ruining the show. I don't like to see cars going in bowling mode, like it happens at Spa when rains really hard.

@@pr1sm55 Well kind of. Many of the Marshalls are volunteers, many of the drivers have other jobs, most fans can't stay until Monday either and the N24h had to end on Sunday since one of Germany's biggest music festivals is at the Nürburgring this weekend. There wasn't really the option to extend.
Very dissapointing 7.5h Race. Hope Le Mans will be better than this.
If they get this amount of fog at La Sarthe in a couple of weeks, that should be taken as final and total proof of climate change.
Let's hope there won't be any heavy rain during the weekend.

We live in an age where cars are extremely safe to drive, so let them drive and let the carnage happens or the drivers show their skills. In no time we will have a race cancelled because too many leafs were flying around. 😂

Taking risks is a part of racing. Without risk there is no racing. The conditions at the 2021 restart were far worse and they did the restart anyway.

It's sad, but afaik the medic heli said he cant start or land anywhere? Thats a dealbreaker. Totally understand the stopped race. Does anyone know why they dont "just do it in july"? THeres probably a reason but i dont know it
it's partly tied into where Easter falls, it's normally held x weeks after that which either means it falls on ascension day or corpus christi weekend in Germany, it means you can have a 4 day bank holiday that weekend, obviously you've also got to take circuit availability into account ( they lose one weekend in June for a start to the rock am ring festival) as well along with the other series that drivers and teams will be doing like WEC, DTM, imsa, World Challenge europe/asia/america etc

When will BMW be properly BoP'd? It's been a year and a half by now where it is at an advantage in any regular racing situation.
It didn't have any advantage, it had good straight line speed that was it. The 72 was so quick in the first stint because it had fresh wets unlike the other cars
